WP8: Dissemination and external coordination

WP8 will perform:

  • Effective dissemination of results to lead user communities, wider scientific community and (space) policy makers
  • Public outreach and educational activities
  • Providing plans of the exploitation of results
  • Coordination of the activities of the project with other projects with complementary goals
  • Providing future measurement concepts for space radiation hazard investigation for and now casting at different levelsfrom student Nano-Sat projects to Agency level

WP7: Server Development

WP7 shall:

  • Setup the technical configuration for the implementation of the project.
  • Design the project database and web-interface of the project that will provide access to the space weather predictions as well as to the inversion tools provided by the consortium on a prototype server.
  • Populate the database and web site with data and documents provided by the consortium.
  • Develop pre - processing software tools in order to provide data from data providers to the modelling, alert, and forecasting systems.
  • Develop post - processing software tools in order to provide data from the modelling, alert, and forecasting systems to the database and web interface servers.
  • Transfer the prototype server to the hardware to be provided by the Coordinator at the end of the project

WP5: Gamma-ray, radio and SEP observations of relativistic events

This WP shall:

  • Establish the link between relativistic protons in the solar atmosphere and near Earth in order to elucidate under which conditions protons and nucleons are accelerated at the Sun to such energies and if and how they escape to IP space
  • Conduct multi-frequency observations of hard X-ray (HXR) and radio emissions in order to  (i) constrain the relationship of gamma-ray emission with other electromagnetic signatures of energetic particles, (ii) obtain observational indications about the confinement or escape of particles accelerated in the low solar atmosphere, (iii) search for proxies of proton acceleration that can be used for forecasting purposes at times when no adequate gamma-ray detectors are available

WP6: Assessment of the radiation impact of SEP events

This WP will:

  • Assess the productivity of SEPs in a comparative mode from solar cycle 23 and 24 and establish the expected limitations for the modelling efforts of SEPs.

WP4: Inversion methods for source and transport parameters of relativistic SEPs

WP4 will:

  • Provide the consortium with an advanced analysis method based on numerical simulations of interplanetary and magnetospheric transport of relativistic SEPs.
  • Develop a software package for the study of neutron monitor observations by the worldwide network, using an inversion modelling approach.
  • Validate the tool on several well-selected events and make the software available online.
